Course description: A comprehensive training program designed to assist all real estate professionals communicate more confidently and professionally with buyers, sellers, appraisers, inspectors, designers, lenders, engineers and construction professionals. Topics include architectural design, materials, methods, terminology and systems of residential construction. A flowchart is used by students to follow the step-by-step construction of a typical home as construction details are explained.

Course Materials: The Residential Construction CertifiedTraining Program materials include a 140-page Certification Workbook, two interactive CD-ROM’s and a user manual which provides step-by-step instructions. There is no pre-requisite for this course.

Method of presentation: This course is presented on a self-study basis using the interactive CD-ROM’s along with the Certification Workbook. As students click through CD-ROM screens, content is delivered through audio and many hundreds of graphics and photos. While working through the CD-ROM materials, students fill-in blanks and label drawings in the companion workbook, which is organized for both effective note-taking and future reference.

Completion Time Limit: This course must be completed and the final exam submitted no later than 36 months from registration. If course and testing is not completed within this time frame, student may be required to purchase a course upgrade package to bring course content, delivery and testing in conformance with updated requirements, if any.

Final Exam Requirements: Once students have completed working through all CD-ROM materials and have filled in all required notes and information in the certification workbook, they must complete a final certification test. Students must wait a minimum of three (3) days from the time they receive the course materials before taking the final exam. To allow access to the online test (found at www.sellnewhomes.com/test), students must submit their name and a registration number provided to them at the time of course registration.

This test consists of thirty (30) multiple choice questions which must be completed in 45 minutes or less. As required by the State of California DRE, if not completed and submitted within this 45 minute time frame, the online test times out. At this point the test must be submitted and graded as is. Once submitted by the student, test results are transmitted electronically to both the student and the course provider. A score of 90% correct or better is required for passing the course and earning the Residential Construction Certified certification.

If a passing score is not earned, the test may be retaken (the majority of students successfully pass the first time and seldom does anyone require taking the test more than twice.)
