Little Houses Leave Big Impression
These
houses – sprinkled throughout the outdoor
shopping complex, Fashion Island, in Newport Beach, California –
leave a big impression with adults and children alike.
These tiny playhouses are donated by homebuilders throughout Southern California as part of HomeAid Orange County Project Playhouse. Each house is fully landscaped
and designed around a theme such as "Taj D'Small", "Pixie
Blossom" and "Seaside Cottage". Details on these miniature masterpieces range
from energy efficient Low-E windows, copper roofs, solar panels, marble
floors, working plumbing and electrical with high-speed Internet ready
wiring, plasma TV with DVD, and more. Yes, things were very different when
we were children.
The houses are
auctioned off in a popular event with all proceeds donated to benefit
HomeAid Orange County, a non-profit organization that helps build and
renovate shelters for transitionally homeless men, women and children in
the community. You may want to consider organizing a similar program with
your local builders association.
