Your
System Configuration
The Certified New Home Specialist™ Interactive CD-ROM has
been designed using the latest technology to offer a high-quality
multimedia experience. At the same time, we have compressed
graphics, video and audio to allow the program to run on as many
different systems as possible. Minimum system requirements are:
Intel Pentium®
processor (Pentium II or III is better)
Windows 95/98 or NT 4 or later
16 MB RAM (32 MB or more is better)
4X CD-ROM drive (8X or faster is better)
800x600, 256 color display (16 bit color or higher is better)
Sound Blaster compatible sound card
Since many factors
influence the performance of a computer, we cannot guarantee this
program will run smoothly on all systems that meet these minimum
requirements. For the very best performance, we recommend newer
systems that have been optimized for multimedia.

Troubleshooting
The following offers suggested solutions to common problems:
PROBLEM: The screen appears too large or small on my monitor.
SOLUTION: You must adjust the resolution to no smaller than
800x600. In Windows 95/98 this is adjusted by going to Start >
Settings > Control Panel > Display >
Settings Tab.
PROBLEM: The colors don’t look right, everything is
blotchy-looking.
SOLUTION: Adjust your monitor to greater than 256 colors. In
Windows 95/98 change this by going to Start > Settings
> Control Panel > Display > Settings
Tab.
PROBLEM: The fonts don’t appear to be displaying correctly.
SOLUTION: You must use the provided font installation program to
install or reinstall the required fonts. To do this, follow the
initial installation instructions on page 2 of this booklet: Step
2 – Install Fonts.
PROBLEM: The video clips aren’t loading.
SOLUTION: You may have to install or reinstall the QuickTime 3 movie
viewer. To do this, follow the initial installation instructions
on page 2 of this booklet: Step 1 – Install QuickTime 3 Movie
Viewer.
PROBLEM: The audio doesn’t seem to play properly following an
video clip.
SOLUTION: The video clip must first completely stop before
clicking the Back or Next buttons.
PROBLEM: I can’t hear the audio.
SOLUTION: Check to make sure your speakers are connected and
working properly. If they are connected properly, make sure they
are not muted or the volume is turned down.
PROBLEM: The audio sounds unclear.
SOLUTION: Due to the compression required to fit the materials on
the discs, the audio will not sound perfectly clear on some
systems. You can attempt to make adjustments through your sound
card software to improve the sound.
